This is a proposal to encode Vedic characters in the international character encoding standard Unicode. This set of characters was published in Unicode Standard version 5.2 in October 2009. The characters were used in Vedic texts, and may be used with Devanagari and other Indic scripts. The set includes characters indicating tone and nasalization, as well as other features.
