Proposal to Encode the Siddham Script in ISO/IEC 10646
Abstract
This is a proposal to encode the Siddham script in the international character encoding standard Unicode. This script was published in Unicode Standard version 7.0 in June 2014. Siddham originated in India, but is predominantly used today in East Asia, where it is strongly associated with the Shingon and Tendai Buddhist traditions in Japan. It was mainly used to write Sanskrit, especially in Buddhist manuscripts. Additional Siddham characters have been added to the Siddham block beyond what was contained in this proposal. Users should check the most recent code charts for other additions. The chart is accessible at: .
