Abstract

This bilingual poem references the Māori concept of whakapapa which explains the layers of connections between everything in the natural world. Whakapapa is the lens through which we look to both the past and the future. Understanding our whakapapa means we understand our relationship with the land and with each other. It is also in our whakapapa that we find our resurgence as a people touched by colonialism.
