Current goals of hospital ECG monitoring are to diagnose cardiac arrhythmias, acute myocardial ischemia, and drug-induced prolonged QT interval. Recently, experts in the field of electrocardiology and cardiac monitoring convened to develop a practice standard for hospital ECG monitoring.
