This is a proposal to encode the Tai Viet script in the international character encoding standard Unicode. The script was published in Unicode Standard version 5.2 in October 2009. Tai Viet is used by three Tai languages: Tai Dam, Tai Dón, and Thai Song. The Tai languages that use this script are based main in northwestern Vietnam, northern Laos, and central Thailand. The script is currently used by the Tai people in Vietnam.
