Proposals from the Script Encoding Initiative bannerUC Berkeley

Proposal to encode the Lycian and Lydian scripts in the SMP of the UCS

Abstract

This is a proposal to encode the Lycian and Lydian scripts in the international character encoding standard Unicode. These scripts were published in Unicode Standard version 5.1 in March 2008. Lycian was used in southwestern Anatolia and Lydian in western Anatolia. Lycian is attested from about 500 BCE until 200 BCE. Lydian dates from the end of the 8c BCE (or early 7c BCE) until the 3rd c BCE.
