AN ENERGY-DISPERSIVE X-RAY FLUORESCENCE ANALYSIS OF OBSIDIAN ARTIFACTS FROM SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO

Creative Commons 'BY-SA' version 4.0 license
Abstract

Two of the artifacts are produced from Valles Rhyolite (Cerro del Medio) obsidian, and one was not obsidian (Table 1). Valles Rhyolite (Cerro del Medio) has not been recorded in any size or quantity in the alluvium, including Rio Grande southern New Mexico localities, so was likely originally procured in Valles Caldera proper (Church 2000; Shackley 2005, 2012).
