Abstract

Medic is a link-based survival horror game developed in Twine that puts players in the role of a character that falls into a stressful situation when your spouse ends up in a hospital from a horrific car accident. What is seemingly a normal environment when entering the hospital turns into a mysterious nightmare situation as the medical facility suddenly becomes a dark and frightening place filled with monstrous doctors ready to take you away. The player’s role is to click links that will navigate them around the first floor of the hospital. Throughout the game the player will collect weapons and items that will help the them survive and combat the enemies which will help the player gain access to the elevator and take the character to the top floor where your spouse is being treated. All this while trying to discover clues as to what is happening and why.

Design Goal: The goal of the design was to construct an experience that would give players an uneasy feeling not only when presented with the choices they must make throughout the game but experiencing the disturbing nature of the overall story.
