Proposals from the Script Encoding Initiative bannerUC Berkeley

Final Proposal to Encode Coptic Epact Numbers in ISO/IEC 10646

Abstract

This is a proposal to encode Coptic epact numbers in the international character encoding standard Unicode. This set of characters was published in Unicode Standard version 7.0 in June 2014. The Coptic epact number notation is a decimal notation system used in some Coptic manuscripts. There were developed in the 10c by the Coptic community for administrative purposes. They appear primarily in Coptic manuscripts written in Arabic. Coptic epact numbers are considered to derive from cursive forms of the ordinary Coptic letters.
