Proposal to add the Vai script to the BMP of the UCS
Abstract
This is a proposal to encode the Vai script in the international character encoding standard Unicode. The script was published in Unicode Standard version 5.1 in March 2008. The Vai script has been used to write the Vai language, which is spoken in western Liberia and eastern Sierra Leone. It was developed in the 1830s. The script is used for record-keeping and correspondence. (Later Unicode proposals cover a number of additions to this script. Users should check the latest code charts for the most up-to-date set of characters: .)
