Investigating the 18-membered macrocyclic chelator NOON-2py for the detoxification of Cd 2+ , Hg 2+ , and Pb 2+

A diaza-18-crown-6 chelator appended with pyridyl pendant arms achieves highly stable, selective chelation of toxic heavy metals, Cd 2+ , Hg 2+ , and Pb 2+ , and demonstrates in vitro sequestration of these metals, offering promise for chelation therapy.
