Who Can Submit

The Proceedings of the Annual UCLA Indo-European Conference accepts submissions from speakers who present papers at the conference. 

Length and Abstract

• Manuscripts must not exceed 6,000 words, including footnotes and bibliography but excluding the abstract. Submissions that substantially exceed this limit will be returned.

• Each manuscript must include an abstract of no more than 200 words, placed at the beginning of the paper.

Submission Process

• Manuscripts must be submitted electronically as an email attachment.

• Authors must provide both a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) file and a corresponding PDF version. (LaTeX submissions cannot be accepted at this time.)

• Please use a Unicode-compliant font to ensure accurate representation of special characters.

Language of the Text

• Submissions must be in English.

• Non-native speakers are strongly encouraged to have their text reviewed by a native speaker prior to submission. Manuscripts that do not meet editorial standards of English prose will be returned for revision.

Style and Formatting

• Beginning with volume 36, the Proceedings will adopt the Chicago Manual of Style (17th edition, author-date) as the standard for citations, bibliography, and general style.

• Authors are responsible for ensuring their manuscripts conform to Chicago author-date style in citations and references.

• All cited linguistic forms must be accompanied by glosses, and all cited passages by translations (single quotes for glosses, double quotes for translations). Translations of block quotations should be set without quotation marks. Examples should be numbered sequentially.

• References must appear at the end of the article under the heading References, and must be formatted consistently according to Chicago author-date.

• Within the text and footnotes, references should follow the abbreviated author-date form, e.g. Watson 1966:24. Page ranges should use en-dashes, not hyphens.
