Energy-Aware Object Localization Using Heterogneous Image Sensors (SYS 10)

Abstract

We describe a double-tier object localization system consisting of two Cyclopes and a high-resolution PTZ camera. Object detection and recognition are performed on Cyclops via frame differencing and color/size classification. The 3D coordinate of an object of interest is computed by utilizing two Cyclopes for stereoscopic vision. The coordinate is passed to the PTZ camera which takes a high-resolution image of the object for further object classification. Significant energy savings are achieved over traditional single-tier localization systems.
