This comment letter responds to the National Institutes of Health’s draft Policy for Data Management and Sharing and supplemental guidance. UC supports NIH’s efforts to expand research data sharing but recommends clearer definitions and implementation standards, standardized data management plan templates and requirements, protections for sensitive data, and adequate funding for both short- and long-term data management, curation, preservation, and infrastructure costs.
