UC Comments on Request for Public Comment on Draft Desirable Characteristics of Repositories for Managing and Sharing Data Resulting From Federally Funded Research (RFC Response: Desirable Repository Characteristics) (Docket ID OSTP-2020-0001)

Abstract

This comment letter responds to the Office of Science and Technology Policy’s draft characteristics for repositories used to manage and share data resulting from federally funded research. UC supports efforts to improve long-term stewardship and public access to research data while recommending greater consistency in data policies across federal agencies, adequate federal support for data curation and preservation costs, and clearer standards for repository functionality, security, and protection of human subjects data.
