The covariation of the diffuse attenuation and distribution functions in plane parallel media

Abstract

SIO Reference 59-52. The purpose of this paper is to establish the theorem that at arbitrary fixed depths  the diffuse attenuation function value  and the distribution function value varydirectly (but not necessarily linearly) one with the other, in all steady state real plane-parallel media which are predominantly forward scattering. In this way we establish a useful criterion for the behavior of  in-terms of the intuitively simpler concept. The theorem is expected to find its greatest use in natural hydrosols.
