This comment letter responds to the National Institutes of Health’s request for input on its NIH-Wide Strategic Plan for COVID-19 Research. UC recommends expanding the plan to address additional research priorities in COVID-19 biology, testing, treatment, prevention, and health disparities, while calling for sustained federal investment in basic science, research infrastructure, data science, and workforce development to strengthen preparedness for future pandemics.
