Submission Policies

The editors reserve the right to determine the suitability of submissions. Authors should remove all identifying information from their manuscripts and follow the instructions outlined on the Submission Guidelines page. Manuscripts must be uploaded in the required file formats through the Janeway submission portal.

JCMRS uses double‑anonymous peer review for scholarly submissions. Creative and visual submissions may undergo editorial review or modified peer review as appropriate.

JCMRS does not charge submission fees or article processing charges.

Removal

Once published, journal articles generally cannot be revised or removed. JCMRS and eScholarship are committed to maintaining perpetual access to published materials whenever possible. However, articles may be removed under special circumstances, including submission errors, rights violations, or inappropriate content.

If an article is removed, the citation and metadata will remain visible. Authors wishing to request removal should contact the editors.

Revising Work

Published manuscripts generally cannot be revised. If a significant error is identified, authors should contact the editors to discuss possible corrections or updates.

Authors may submit a new version of previously published work following eScholarship’s versioning procedures.

Rights and Permissions

JCMRS does not require copyright transfer. Authors retain copyright to their work and grant JCMRS and eScholarship a nonexclusive license to publish, archive, and preserve the article in perpetuity.

Authors are responsible for securing all necessary permissions for third‑party materials included in their manuscript.

All articles are subject to the journal’s author agreement, available during submission or upon request.

Open Access Statement

JCMRS is an open‑access journal, and all content is freely available without charge. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without requiring permission from the publisher or authors.

JCMRS uses a Creative Commons license (CC‑BY) unless otherwise stated.

Long‑Term Preservation Policy

All materials published through JCMRS are preserved in the California Digital Library’s Merritt Preservation Repository, ensuring long‑term access and archiving within eScholarship’s preservation infrastructure.
