Currently, manuscripts submitted to DOMCI undergo review by a member of the editorial team. You can expect the editing and review process to take anywhere from three to six weeks.

The final decision to accept a manuscript rests with the Senior Editors. Editors ensure that the manuscript meets DOMCI and UC eScholarship style and format requirements and edit the manuscript for grammatical correctness, clarity, readability, conciseness, and organization. The extent of the editing varies depending upon the manuscript presentation. Editors also check all scientific details, rectify the text, tables, and figures for factual consistency, and check all bibliographic details and reference formatting. In some cases, video or image quality requires additional edits or media changes by the authors. The edited manuscript is returned to the author for final corrections. The author is expected to verify the changes, make any required corrections, and return the manuscript to the editor for final copy editing and typesetting. The final manuscript is then sent to production and publication.  

Once accepted for publication, the author will be notified to enable them to share that information with the promotions committee should they have a pending academic action.  

Fully corrected proofs (the final version) will be published online in DOMCI as quarterly issues. The date of online publication is provided in the article’s heading as a reference in case of questions regarding publication precedence.
