The Journal of Critical Mixed Race Studies (JCMRS) is a peer‑reviewed, open‑access, interdisciplinary journal dedicated to advancing the field of Critical Mixed Race Studies. First launched in 2011, JCMRS was the first academic journal explicitly focused on the critical study of mixed‑race experiences, identities, and racialization processes, and it continues to serve as a leading platform for scholarship, creativity, and community‑centered inquiry.

JCMRS publishes rigorous and innovative work that examines mixedness not as an identity category alone, but as a lens for understanding power, culture, embodiment, relationality, and social transformation. The journal embraces contributions from across the globe and across disciplines — including the humanities, social sciences, arts, education, psychology, law, public policy, cultural studies, and beyond.

Affiliated with the Critical Mixed Race Studies Association (CMRSA), JCMRS was established in UC Santa Barbara's Department of Sociology by G. Reginald Daniel and is hosted on the eScholarship Repository, which is part of the eScholarship initiative of the California Digital Library.
