Christine A. Stanley Award for Diversity and Inclusion Research in Educational Development

JDEED is proud to partner with the POD Network Awards Committee and the Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee to re-launch the Christine A. Stanley Award for Diversity and Inclusion Research in Educational Development. The award was established in 2016 to honor Dr. Stanley’s many contributions to educational development scholarship and to POD. 

The Stanley Award aims to: 

  • Advance educational development scholarship on diversity- and inclusion-related issues in the field.

  • Reflect POD’s values of diversity and inclusion via scholarly engagement.

  • Highlight the work and thought-leadership of educational development scholar-practitioners and researchers engaging meaningfully with issues of diversity and inclusion.

To be eligible, manuscripts must:

  • Demonstrate an awareness of both educational development scholarship and relevant scholarship on diversity and inclusion;

  • Reflect relevant POD Vision, Mission and Values;

  • Articulate a central argument about diversity and inclusion through educational development (whether that be among faculty, students, or educational developers); and

  • Reflect original empirical research OR a substantial theoretical reconceptualization of key ideas in the field OR novel evidence-based practices. 

  • Have been published in or accepted by a peer-reviewed platform or journal between September 1, 2024 and March 1, 2026. 

Recognition:

The Stanley Award recipient will be invited to share insights about their writing process and/or publication via participation in Meet the Scholar event with JDEED. In addition, the awardee will be recognized at the next annual conference of the POD Network during an event co-presented by DEI Committee, the Awards Committee, and JDEED. One author from the awarded publication will receive waived conference registration fees in order to support their attendance at the conference.
